FC Internationals Cancelled

Sadly, the FC Internationals in Bournemouth have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We were not surprised to receive this news but, like many athletes across the country and Future Cheer themselves, were nevertheless disappointed. Please see the below message from Future Cheer regarding the cancellation.

“Following the government’s statement on Sunday and the release of the UK’s road map for exiting lockdown, it is now clear that it is not feasible for us to go ahead with FC Internationals 2020 on 4th-6th July 2020. It is with great sadness that we have to cancel this event as we know how much it means to you all, but the safety of the athletes, coaches and spectators as well as our staff remains paramount and it is clear that as a country we will not be in a position to run gatherings of this type by the beginning of July.”

We will be in touch with all parents/carers who have already contributed towards competition fees and accommodation as soon as possible.

Future Cheer Internationals: Update

Please see the below message from Future Cheer regarding this year’s FC Internationals competition.

“We hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well. We know that you are all eager for an answer as to whether FC Internationals is going to go ahead and we thank you for your patience.

At this time, we are waiting for the next government review and announcement which is due on Thursday 7th May. Once that announcement has been made we will hopefully have a much clearer picture of what the government’s exit strategy involves and whether running FC Internationals in any capacity is possible.

We are […] aware that so many of you are keen for FC Internationals to go ahead and so we do not want to cancel the event prematurely. However, rest assured that we will only run the event if it is safe to do so and if we can keep to the government guidelines on mass gatherings. We are keeping in close contact with the venue, who in turn will have communications with local council/government to make sure that in the event that the competition goes ahead, it is done so safely.”

Into the Future Cancelled

Future Cheer have confirmed that this year’s Into the Future event has been cancelled (see below). Please note all parents/carers who have paid for this competition will receive a refund as soon as possible.

“It is with regret that we are writing to inform you that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to go ahead with Into the Future on 6th-7th June 2020 in Brighton.

We know that this will be a disappointment to you, your athletes and families and that this may have further implications for any booked travel and accommodation, however we feel that ultimately this is a better option than rescheduling and then having to make a further change if the situation has not improved by that time. Although disappointing we feel that in these already uncertain times it is important for us to give you and your families a firm decision without the worry of further changes down the line.”

Sponsored 5k walk: Saturday 29th June

The Jets will be undertaking a 5km sponsored walk on Saturday 29th June 2019 at 10.00 to raise funds for the programme. Members of the local community are very welcome to join in.

The (buggy-friendly) route will begin at Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College for Girls, where the squads train, and finish at the playground in Norbury Park (see below map).

The route will be marked out along the way by volunteers; attendants and pace walkers will be on hand as well as marshals in high-visibility vests. Those who complete the walk will each be presented with a medal at the finish. Parents, carers, friends and participants are encouraged to bring picnics to enjoy in the park (weather permitting!).

Registration costs £5 per solo entrant or £15 for a family of four. Those aged eight and under are free. All participants will need to complete a sponsorship form and waiver that will be provided upon registration. Please see Miss Campbell for further details or email: admin@nmjets.org.uk.
